Copilot Chat

Copilot Chat (formerly known as Copilot with data protection) is a secure AI-powered chatbot that uses advanced AI models, including OpenAI’s GPT-5 for and DALL·E 3 for generating images. It does not use your conversations to train any AI model or share any data with OpenAI, ensuring your information remains private. Functionality is split into a Work and a Web tab. High risk data should only be used in the Work search, Web is appropriate for moderate and low risk data.

Here’s what you can do with it:

  • Generate Text Responses: Help you write emails, reports, or any text, using its understanding of language and context.
  • Create Images: You can describe an image you need in plain language, and Copilot will generate it for you using the DALL·E 3 model.
  • Chat with Uploaded Documents: You can upload documents or images directly into the chat. The Copilot can then help you by extracting information, answering questions about the content, or assisting with document-based tasks.
  • Unlike M365 Copilot, this tool is standalone and does not integrate directly with Microsoft 365 apps like Word or Excel, nor does it access files from Microsoft services like OneDrive or SharePoint unless you specifically upload files from them to a conversation to add context. Microsoft Outlook and Teams both have a Copilot Chat button in their navigation bars that will bring you to Copilot Chat.
