Registration is closed for From Innovation to Impact: AI at Yale, the university’s second campus-wide interdisciplinary AI symposium, on April 28, 2026, in Kline Tower.

We will kick off on the evening of April 27 with a joint keynote lecture “The Need for AI in Biodiversity Science: Beyond Bucks and Acres” featuring Peter Karieva.

In celebration of Yale’s Biodiversity Day and the AI at Yale Symposium, Kareiva will share his deep expertise in community-based conservation and the applications of AI to conservation.  Kareiva, both a conservation biologist and mathematical biologist, has led the Conservation Biology Division at the Northwest Fisheries Science Center for NOAA, was the Chief Scientist for The Nature Conservancy, and most recently served for 5 years as the CEO of the Aquarium of the Pacific.

From Innovation to Impact

Call for Proposals (closed)

Organized by the Office of the Provost, this event invites faculty, students, and staff to share innovations, applications, impacts, and critical perspectives related to machine learning and generative AI. 

Students, faculty, and staff will showcase their discoveries and insights through lightning talks, poster sessions, panels, demonstrations, performances, and more. Sessions will be grouped by interdisciplinary themes to spark dialogue, connection, and collaboration across fields.

Session Format Preferences

When you submit your proposal, you will be asked to choose a format preference.  The symposium organizers reserve the right to assign accepted proposals to session types. 

Session Type Submission Requires Format Details
Lightning Talks 150-250 word abstract for individual entries 5 minutes, slide decks encouraged

Panels

250-word abstract on goals and format of the panel

Panel submission must include the names of a moderator and at least 3 panelists with a variety of expertise.

Posters and Digital Art 150-250 word abstract Will be displayed on 48in LED screens 
Installations (Art, Robotics, VR, etc)
  • 150-250 word abstract about the work;
  • Additional field for describing logistics needs for installation 
Be sure to specify spatial dimensions, electricity needs, AV needs, table, and if audience is allowed to interact with the work or if it needs to be cordoned off.     
Performances and Demonstrations
  • 150-250 word abstract about the work;
  • Additional field for describing logistics needs for installation
15 minutes, be sure to specify needs such as dimensions, electricity, AV, table, etc.

Resource Tables 

  • 150-250 words abstract
  • Additional field available to list table staff and logistics needs 
A 6 ft rectangular table will be provided in lobby area with 2 chairs.
Lunch Resource & Networking Sessions
  • 100-250 words abstract with brief top level goals for networking or resource sharing
A room and lunch will be provided.
